An engineered roof for a 1940’s cottage

The roof of a 1940's cottage was failing, so we came up with a solution that used engineered components to extend its life for another 60 years - and created a cozy loft space in the process.

The existing rafter roof was failing and needed replacing.

A good shot of the new rafters, posts, and beams.

One of 4 engineered supports worked into the existing structure.

The existing walls extended to the new ceiling.

A view of the finished ceiling.

A woodstove to extend the cottage season to spring and fall.

The open roofline created a cozy loft above the kitchen.

Open, solid, functional, ready for another 60 years…

One of several trailers of old roof turned into firewood.
